What is the best carpet for pets?

LifeGuard Carpet By Shaw is your best choice for carpet

What is the best carpet for pets is one of the most common questions I have run into in my 30 years of operating a local carpet cleaning company. Hi my name is Paul Dixon, Owner of Carpet Renovations, Inc. serving the Tulsa & Broken Arrow Oklahoma Communities with our top of the line carpet cleaning service including pet odor removal and pet damage restoration services. Up until now I have not ran into a carpet that I could honestly recommend to my customers that would assure them if there dog, cat, or other family pet member urinated on it over an extended period of time that we as a professional carpet cleaning company could get the pet urine out. We have been quite successful in helping pet owners with this problem for years but up until now a 100% successful pet odor removal has not been possible with a cleaning alone. We have had to resort to extensive pet damage restoration which would include pad cushion removal, sealing subflooring, and enzyme treatments. These processes work well but can be very expensive to the pet owner.

What makes Pet Urine in carpet so hard to get out?

From a professional point of view getting pet urine out of carpet is not that difficult. Use a Urine Stain Neutralizing Pretreat along with a low pH rinsing solution and a deep steam cleaning will eliminate the pet urine from the carpet. Where the trouble comes from is the pet urine that is trapped past the face fibers and into the carpet backing and often even down into the carpet cushion. Pet urine gets trapped underneath in the carpet backing and after a cleaning it will continue to keep working its way back to the surface through the carpet fibers, this process is known as "wicking" in the carpet industry.

Why does a pet barrier carpet pad not solve the problem?

When the pet barrier pads became available to the consumer I thought terrific, finally something to help the homeowners not have to replace their carpet padding after pet urine contamination has made its way into the cushion. While this did improvement the problem somewhat it just simply did not resolve the issue completely. Why? Because pet urine still penetrated past the carpet fibers, into the carpet backing and now gets trapped between the carpet backing and top surface of the impenetrable pet barrier padding. Still leaving the issue of pet urine being trapped underneath in the backing and  wicking its way back through the carpet fibers leaving recurring stains and odors even after having the carpet cleaned by a professional.

What makes the new LifeGuard Carpet by Shaw different?

LifeGuard Carpet has truly found the answer for the pet owner whose pets continue to have those nasty little accidents on the carpet. The company used two techniques while engineering this pet proof carpet, the first being a patented stain and soil resistant protection that has been put into the carpet fiber making it very stain resistant and liquid resistant. The second being the backing itself. This is the true secret to their impenetrable carpet. The backing has been patented and made out of Thermoplastic. This new backing is so impenetrable that it has even been put through the ultimate test, a swimming pool was made out of it, filled up and that's right, not a drop of water made its way through.

Finally, as a carpet cleaning company if we service a customer that has purchased this type of carpet all we will be dealing with is getting the pet urine contamination out of the carpet fibers themselves and guess what, we can do that! If you are looking for a really good carpet and you have pets, we highly recommend LifeGuard Carpet by Shaw.
