The weather is warming up, and spring is here at full blast. While we may enjoy the warm days, the rain that comes with the season also stirs up things in the air. It is estimated that as many as 50 million of us in America start sneezing this time of the year. The allergies get trumpeted up to high pitch, and life can be miserable.
Carpet Renovations has a few suggestions to help ease those allergy misery days. We know that those allergens find their way into the carpeting, drapes, mattresses and upholstery, and then they breed.
Know What Triggers Your Allergies: If they are from the indoors like the dander from cats, dogs or rodents, or cockroaches, dust mites, and mold spores, then open the windows and air the house. If they are from outdoors like the pollen from grass, trees, and weeds, keep the windows closed.
Standing Water Needs to Go: Look around your house and any standing water you see needs to be poured out and cleaned up. This is a perfect breeding ground for mold and mosquitos.
Trap That Dust: Using feather dusters will only spread the dust around the room. Instead, use a damp cloth or a damp paper towel that traps the dust. And don’t forget to get the top of door jams, top shelves, and ceiling fans when you dust.
Go Unscented With the Chemicals: Avoid buying any cleaning chemicals that are scented. They actually will aggravate those allergies.
Keeping it Cool: Keep the house cool with low humidity so that it’s easier for you to breath and harder for dust mites and mold spores to survive.
Wash the Shower Curtains: If they can’t be washed, replace them. The mold that is found on shower curtains will spread throughout the house.
Get Rid of the Allergens: Change out the AC filter monthly, vacuum your house weekly and have the carpets, grout and upholstery professionally cleaned every three months to keep those allergens out, and the mold gone. The warmer the days get, the more it gets the allergens stirred up and aggravates your allergies.
